Our family history is rooted in the and and its vines, beginning with the acquisition of the Moisans estate. To make characterful cognacs faithful to our family tradition, we believe that the terroir is important, the vineyard is essential, and the care given to our wines is absolutely crucial.

In the 1960s, the founder Roland Bru created the Distillerie des Moisans and bought his first vines. He followed in the footsteps of his father-in-law, Georges Guimard who was from a large family in Angoulême. Like Bru in his time, Guimard traveled the world after the First World War as a representative of the great cognac houses

Today, the company is overseen by the founder’s daughter Véronique Legaret and her son Roland, with Oliver Petit at their side. For us, cognac is a family affair. We are proud to share our world, where the exceptional, beautiful, and unique come together to give rise to deep emotion, revelation, and discovery.

DEAU COGNAC ... a family story ... 

The story begins in 1685, during the reign of King Louis XIV, when Louis Deau, settles winegrower in Charente and discovers the mythical alchemy of stills. For several generations the Bru Legaret family has owned and operated a wine estate in the heart of the Cognac region. Today, Véronique Bru Legaret and her son Roland Legaret take over the destiny of the DEAU COGNAC brand, and are proud to make you discover a universe where the beautiful, the exceptional and the unique meet and can create absolute emotion, a revelation, a discovery. Cognac DEAU is located in Sireuil (Charente, France) and more precisely “Aux Moisans” in the heart of the Cognac region. This is where, in the middle of the vines, overlooking the Charente, is our distillery and its 12 copper stills, next to the old cellars where the precious eaux-de-vie from our Collection are aged in more than 2000 barrels.At Sireuil we dedicate ourselves to the creation of exceptional cognacs but also to the French art of living.DEAU COGNAC is inspired by the balance between luxury and nature which is characterized and reflected in the elegance of its range. 

The “Griffon”, emblem of the family, is the symbolic guardian of the treasures of nature. Today he is the noble protector of our vines and of the golden elixir kept in our cellars.

Roland Bru, the creation of cognacs that bear his name to this day was to be his greatest pride and the pinnacle of his achievement.
