Perhaps the Munros of Scotland are new to you, but the collective title The Munros is used to identify the 282 mountains in Scotland that are over 3,000 feet (914.4 metres) above sea level and, to regular visitors to Scotland, the names Ben Nevis, Ben Lomond, Schiehallion, Buachaille Etive Mòr, Lochnagar conjure thoughts and memories of the Highlands of Scotland. The title The Munros is named after Sir Hugh T Munro, who surveyed and catalogued them in 1891. For experienced walkers, climbing or “bagging” all 282 mountains is a great challenge, but the reward of seeing some of Scotland’s finest scenery is very worthwhile.
